When we started Decibel Defense over 10 years ago, the goal was simple:
Make hearing protection we would actually trust ourselves.
As an Army veteran and former musician, our founder Ron had spent years around gunfire, engines, heavy machinery, and live music — and knew firsthand how easy it is to damage your hearing permanently. At the time, most earmuffs felt like you had to choose between cheap disposable products or overly expensive “tactical” gear packed with electronics and gimmicks.
So we decided to build something different:serious hearing protection with real comfort, honest pricing, and customer support from actual human beings.
Fast forward to today, and we’re incredibly proud to share that Decibel Defense was recently mentioned in a Wirecutter article from The New York Times covering over-ear hearing protection.
For a small family-owned company like ours, that’s a really cool moment!
Wirecutter has built a reputation for thoroughly researching products and helping people make informed buying decisions, so simply being included in the conversation alongside major hearing protection brands is something we’re genuinely grateful for.
But more importantly, it reminds us why we started this company in the first place.
Hearing protection matters.
Whether you’re:
…your hearing is something worth protecting early and consistently.
One of the things we’ve always believed is that the “best” hearing protection isn’t the flashiest or most complicated product. It’s the one you’ll actually wear comfortably and consistently in real life.
That philosophy still drives everything we make today:
Over the years, more than 300,000 customers have trusted Decibel Defense to help protect their hearing, and that support means everything to us.
We’re still a growing American family business.
We still answer customer emails.
We still care deeply about every review, every order, and every customer experience.
And yes — we still get excited when something like this happens.
So to everyone who has supported Decibel Defense over the years:
thank you.
We’re proud of how far the brand has come, and even more excited about where it’s headed next.
And if this is your reminder to start protecting your hearing a little more seriously…
Consider this your sign. Your future ears will thank you.
